PARENT EDUCATION OPPORTUNITIES

Meal Planning     Wednesday, February 4, 2015 @ 5:30-6:30 PM—Parish Center

Are you tired of the 5:00 “What-am-I-going-to-fix-for-dinner” stress? Would you like to save money on your monthly grocery bill? Would you like to feed your family healthy, nutritious meals but need some new ideas?  Spending 30 minutes a week on meal planning can keep your family out of the McDonald’s drive through, in turn keeping your kids healthy and out of the Doctor’s office.   Come away empowered about using this valuable skill and leave with new recipes to try out tomorrow!   We hope that you can attend this parent education opportunity brought to you by our Wellness Coordinator, Erin Weilert.  See you there!

Practical Parenting     Wednesday, February 25, 2015 @ 5-6pm - Parish Center

The objective of this Practical Parenting class is to give parents with children of all ages practical strategies and tips that will not only improve their child's behavior at home, but also manage their time more effectively. Packets for each parent will include these items.  Sensory Bottles, Work Chores, Behavior Contracts, & Incentive Charts.  Materials will be provided in this “Make It, Take It” class by our Faciliator, Melanie Greve.

Breakfast and Lunch Box Ideas     Sunday, March 1, 2015 @ 4:00-5:00PM—Parish Center

Did you know that one in five kids goes to school hungry?  Kids who eat a balanced breakfast do better in school, have greater concentration, and more energy than those who don’t. Come be inspired with new ideas on what to make ahead for breakfast so that you can help your child succeed.  Also….Are you AND your child ready for a change of pace from the daily PB & J?  Come learn some healthy new lunch box ideas that will keep your child’s mind sharp and their belly full till dinner.  Also covered will be the new Smart Snack guidelines from the State of Kansas that our school will be following next year.  This is important information because in the 2015 school year, any food brought into the school as a shared snack or birthday party treat will need to meet new State guidelines.  We hope that you can attend this parent education opportunity brought to you by our Wellness Coordinator, Erin Weilert.  See you there!
